Swim Lessons!

We started Janie Ann in swim lessons last Monday and we had our 2nd class last night! Seth videoed some of the class and David took pictures...so this post will have pictures and the next will be the video. It is so hard for me to believe that I have an 8 month old taking swim lessons!! She LOVES the pool- which makes me so happy because I could live in the pool during the summer and since Janie Ann's Memaw now has a pool it will make summertime so much better!!

Just a little update on what she has accomplished over the past 1.5 weeks...she finished her first week of Vacation Bible School and she is now able to go from her stomach/crawling to sitting up! My summer time is going by too quickly and I am enjoying spending all of my time with her- I have NO idea how I'm going to go back to work on August 4th!!! If anyone would like to support the Clark family so that I can stay at home full time- please leave a msg in the comment area and I will contact you!! :) This is when I REALLY love being a teacher!

Of the July 4th weekend...

Korbin and Karsen. Yes, this one is a little bit longer, but they were both singing so well- I had to video the majority of both songs!! (I actually think I got all of their songs!)

Let's start with today!

Janie Ann had her first swimming lesson today and did fairly well.... she got upset when she was supposed to float on her back!! I tried singing to her, talking to her, laying her super close to me- NOTHING worked. She screamed and her 2 little feet shot straight into the air trying to pull herself up!! It was pitiful, but we will continue working on that skill

because she has to be able to do it!! Today we worked on blowing bubbles/blowing the egg...she didn't do either of these, but gave me some funny faces while I was doing them. Hopefully we

will practice this and she will get it by the time we are done! We worked on kicking and using

our arms. Janie Ann is a pro at kicking and she would REALLY kick after going underwater. Yep- that is right! She went under 2 or 3 times and that did not bother her at all! I think she would rather be under water than floating on her back!! I was going to get Seth to video tape her first lesson, but Seth had to work in Auburn with his grant at the University and so he was late getting there and we were already in the pool/starting class and I didn't think about it until after the fact...so now that he knows that I want it taped- hopefully we will get the 2nd lesson taped!!

Saturday was my birthday- I turned the big 2-6. Seth, Janie Ann and I went to Auburn and ate at Provino's then came home- nice relaxing day.

Then, last weekend (July 4th) we, as a WHOLE family, from Seth's Grand-daddy Kenneth to the youngest, Janie Ann all stayed at Children's Harbor in a lodge. We stayed from Friday until Monday and we were able to watch the fireworks from the lodge and didn't have to leave!! It was SUPER nice and crazy at times!! Hoping we can get it again next year! We spent a lot of time swimming, eating, sleeping and did I say eating?! Saturday morning Seth's Granny woke up and made home-made biscuits and OMG they were delicious, so good that 24 people ate 50 biscuits!!! Yes- that is right, 24 people (9 of which were under 12 years old and 4 under 2 years old!!)!! Below are just a FEW pictures from that weekend.

Needless to say, we have been busy! Wednesday night starts Vacation Bible School- but hopefully I will update the blog with more pictures sooner than later. I will also be putting up some karaoke video's from the "Family Weekend"!!

Vote August 3rd thru 31st!

I have entered Janie Ann into the Gerber Baby contest! Since I submitted her picture yesterday and they approved it- we can begin voting for her on August 3rd. The voting for her will end on August 31st, then on January 11th (I believe) they will announce the Grand Prize winner. All I really want is to win one of the Flip HD cameras, yes, it would be AWESOME if she was the new Gerber baby, but I'm not going to expect that to happen! To win a Flip camera all I need to do is have the most votes for Janie in that one month period! Of course, I believe she is the prettiest baby on the site- so that shouldn't be a problem!! HA! 8 months, already?!

That's right, my baby is 8 months old now!! Time sure is flying by! This post won't have any pictures because I don't have any with me...but check back over the weekend- hopefully I will be able to post some of our weekend adventure to the lake!!

Anyways- back to Janie Ann and her accomplishments at 8 months old...
-she got her 2 bottom teeth- at the same time on Father's Day weekend!
-she will eat ANYTHING you give you and gets upset if someone is eating and they aren't feeding her!
-she LOVES oreo's...bless her- she has her mom's sweet tooth!
-she is attempting to crawl, but right now all she does is "push-ups". She will be on her hands and tip toes rocking back and forth!
-she went to her first concert- Corey Smith- and was a champ the entire time!
-she can say "dada" (said this first on Mother's day!) and every once in a while I will hear a "momma" and she also attempts to say "bye"
-she can patty-cake and waves to you
-She has started to use a sippy-cup and her favorites are the Nuby (my nephew dubbed them the "sleepy cup"- I just pray she isn't addicted to them like he was!!)
-she has become SUPER spoiled- which is not a surprise with both of her parents at home with her all summer!

and I know I have probably missed something, but our biggest accomplishment came last night...

SLEEPING IN HER OWN BED! All night long!! I had to wake her up this morning at 7:15 to feed her before I headed to work!! I'm so proud that she did it, but I will have to admit I missed her snuggling with me!!

This weekend we are going to be headed down to Children's Harbor on Lake Martin to spend the weekend with family and enjoy the big fireworks show on the 4th! It will be Janie Ann's first trip to the lake- I hope she enjoys it as much as she does the pool! (If she doesn't, there is a pool there!) I also hope that she loves the fireworks show.
