It's coming right along!!

Well, Seth and I went to Daviston to pick up a trailor so that we could go get our front door this afternoon, and boy were we suprised when we pulled up to the house! All the ceiling joices were laid, and you can even tell which rooms are going to have trayed ceilings! We also had stairs to the bonus room and the bonus room floor was laid! I took a few pictures with Seth's phone, and I was pleased with the quality! It's really beginning to look like a house!

We have exterior walls!

Well, Seth and I went to Daviston today to check on the progress of the house and we have all the exterior walls up, except in the garage, where they are adding the bonus room! I didn't take my camera, so I don't have any pictures, but next time we go I will have my camera! I know this isn't much, but just wanted to give an update! 

WOW! What a weekend!

Well, on Tuesday Harper Baylee Hunter made her entrance into the world, 5 weeks early. She was having trouble breathing, but the doctors said that was normal for a preemie, but on Thursday morning her right lung collapsed and was taken to UAB Medical Center in Birmingham. She was kept in NICU on an IV, oxygen tank, and feeding tube for 3 days, they moved her today to the step down unit and Sheena and Scott can finally hold her! Thank you to everyone who said a little prayer for Harper, it is greatly appreciated!

So my week went a little like this: Tuesday we went by and saw the house and there were a few walls up:

Then we went by the hospital to see Harper and her family! Since Harper was early, I got a list of things that they needed. Then on Wednesday, Seth left for West Virginia:

He went with Josh Parker to the game on Thursday night, which was a disappointment! After I dropped him off to for his trip, I went to Target and picked up a few things and headed back to the hospital. On Thursday morning I received the phone call that they had taken Harper to Birmingham. That had to be the LONGEST DAY ever! After school, I rushed to Alex City to meet Shelly and ride with her to Birmingham. We got there around 6:15 and the NICU had just closed down due to them bringing in a new baby, then from 7:15 to 8:15 they had staff change and the unit stays closed for that process, at 8:15 I’m assuming they were still getting everything situated from the new baby so we weren’t able to go back there until around 8:45. So, I didn’t get home until around midnight! Since Seth was out of town, he wanted to come straight to Birmingham when he got back so that he could see his sister and niece, so Rosalyn and I made plans to ride together to Birmingham- which means I also had to make plans for the dogs- long story, short- King stayed at Pet Palace and Caddy stayed with my Aunt- THANK YOU!! I also had to pack up some clothes for Seth and I to stay in New Site/ Birmingham for the weekend. On Friday morning I had everything ready to go after work and we made it to Birmingham around 6:30 that night. We stayed overnight with Rosalyn and Josh at Rosalyn’s mother’s house- THANK YOU! Then Saturday we took Harrison, the big brother, back home with us to stay. We stayed at Memaw and Grandpa’s house, and we went to the Fall Festival. When we were getting ready for bed, Cadillac and Harrison were laid up on the couch together:

Harrison said that, “Cadillac is my new buddy.”  Well, of course things couldn’t be that easy for us…Harrison got sick and was throwing up all night, L. Thank goodness Memaw and Grandpa came home, I don’t think I could have done it all by myself (with Seth)! He was better today, but he still wanted his Gammy and Mommy- Aunt Tippy wasn’t good enough for him anymore! Gammy and Pop came and picked him up around 6:00 and he was feeling a little better!

Then Sunday we made it to the house to finally look around and meet with Mr. Ken and make any changes we wanted to make. It is really beginning to look like a house- I can actually tell where my laundry room and master bedroom are located. I can’t really tell exactly how big, just because it’s still open all the way throughout, but I am getting VERY excited!    

So, needless to say, it wasn’t a very restful weekend! My mom is coming home soon, and I can’t wait to see her and take her to the house! 

We have walls, and...

a new NIECE!! Sheena had a beautiful baby girl today, she was about 5 weeks early, so she was VERY unexpected! Sheena and baby are doing great! Because she was so early, she has been under an oxygen tank all day, therefore Sheena nor Scott have really gotten to see and hold her yet which is why she doesn't have a name!! They have a couple picked out, but nothing for certain, YET! I'm going back on Wednesday, (Seth is leaving for WV for the AU Game) so hopefully I will get to hold her and have a picture!

We do have a few walls up- I still can't picture the house yet, but I am getting very excited. I do have pictures (coming soon), and I will go back by this afternoon (maybe) and see what other progress has been made.

I am hoping to do some pictures/video updates over the next couple of days- Seth and Josh (Rosalyn's husband) is making the journey to WV for the football game on Thursday night, so please remember them in your prayers as they will be traveling Wednesday afternoon and Friday.

We have a floor!

Although I don't have a picture, yet, Seth talked to Mr. Ken tonight and he verified that we do have a floor down! Seth is going to be visiting tomorrow night, and Mr. Ken said that by tomorrow there should be walls up!! I do have a picture of the floor joices (spelling, unsure!)- they will come with tomorrows post! :) I will not get to see the house tomorrow, so I'm hoping Seth can take some fabulous pictures, I will be participating in a Relay for Life Chilli Cook-off. Don't worry, I'm not making any chilli, but I did suggest that Rosalyn make some and so I have to go with her!

AJHS is having another Relay team, so I will be raising money for that..*hint, hint*, be looking for future emails!

Doors...

Well, again- no one said you had to pick EVERYTHING out at once! I have tried to find pictures of the doors, below is a picture of the French Doors that we have picked out (well, similar). They are going to have the blinds built into the glass, that way you don't have to dust the blinds! We will have 2 of these doors- one leaving the living room onto the back porch and the other leaving the master bedroom onto the back porch. Both of the doors will open, where in this picture only one side opens.

This is the only front door that "kinda" resembles the one we purchased! The front door we purchased is white- so we can paint it whatever color we want! And there is no design in the glass- it has "grilles", and the glass is clear. So, while this picture kind of resembles the door- it actually looks NOTHING like it!! :) 

We are on our way!

Well, I knew everything was going to start coming together, I just didn’t realize how quickly it would need to happen! Today I called Barry Bolan, our contact at Russell Do it Center, and told him that I wanted a price on some French doors, little did I know that we would need to be placing an order for the French doors, windows and front door so that they would be here once Ken was finished framing! So, after long conversations with Barry, I decided on the Bastille Brick from Boral brick, beige window facings, and we ordered a front door from Home Depot. We decided to go with a fiberglass front door for the energy efficiency that it provides. We went with a door that was not finished, so that will be another decision later down the road, what color will I paint the door?? Anyways- it’s ¾ glass, with the sidelights matching. I have tried to find a picture and could not find one that matches close enough to post. We also got some bids back from plumbers and electricians, we have to decide soon who to go with! So anyone reading this blog in the Auburn/Alex City area, if you have ANYONE to suggest please leave their name and phone number, it will GREATLY be appreciated!!

We have block...

Well, we are beginning to see the house take shape. Keith Moon and Mr. Sharpe (I don't know his first name!!) have been working hard. We had a one day slow-down due to rain, but it just slowed them down momentarily. They will be coming back out Monday, hopefully, to pour the carport! Below are just a few pictures!






It's really beginning to look like a house! Tomorrow, Monday, I am going to the doctor in Columbus and on my way back I'm stopping at Boral Bricks in Phenix City to price the brick!! We have already picked out a color we both love, but when I talked to the guy about the color- he actually gave me the sizing of the brick, and not the color, so hopefully I can take a picture of it and they can help me figure out which color it is!! I will post pictures of the color soon!

Something funny!!

Well, we went and met with Barry Bolan. He gave us a lot of books to look at, but we think we have pretty much decided on the front door, windows, and interior doors- websites to be posted once we decide for sure! Oh, also the post below about the cabinets, if you went with the darker cabinets, what color flooring?? We were thinking vanilla bean throughout and have a dark distressed floor, and then paint the walls a brown color, that way it will pull the brown out of the granite with the vanilla bean cabinets. Again, so many decisions!!!

But while we were in Madison, AL visiting Jacob and Rylee, Jacob pulled out some of his fun toys that he has, below is the video. I had to edit all the sound out of it, because basically all you could hear is me busting out laughing!! If you notice, at some points throughout the video you can't really see the tops of their heads, thats because I was laughing so hard I couldn't keep the camera focused!! :) Enjoy... Decisions, decisions, decisions....

With dark cabinets and vanilla bean island...or.... vanilla bean throughout and dark island??

Well, we are back from our visit with Jacob! We have picked out granite for the kitchen and master bath- now we have to decide if we want Vanilla Bean cabinets throughout and have a dark island, or have the dark cabinets throughout and a vanilla bean island!! HELP!  Then I'm going to have to decide what color flooring with look best with the whole kitchen!! So many decisions! We are meeting with Barry Bolan, with Russell Building Supply, tomorrow to discuss windows, interior and exterior doors. I will update you with that information tomorrow!!! We met with Ken Williams today to discuss some minor changes we would like in the house plan, that we didn't realize until now! We are adding 2 windows to the master bedroom and removing the one from the laundry room- expanding the laundry room just a little... again, many decisions that have to be made!!

WOW!!!

Well, a lot has happened today- ALL for the GOOD!!! This afternoon, after work, I went to Dadeville Courthouse to purchase the building permit, and while I was there I found out that our temporary power pole had been inspected and approved! Denise Holley (the lady helping me) told me to go to Alabama Power and set up an account with them today, so that they could get the power connected, possibly tomorrow! So, after I received the building permit, I rode over to Alabama Power and set up our account! Then I rode to Daviston to see what all had happened today. I took a video of what all changed, and I'm trying to learn how to edit the video's with iMovie, so you will have to bear with me as I work on the videos!! :)  All-in-all, things are running smoothly, VERY smoothly, and it's my daily prayer that they continue to be like this!! Also, on Friday we are going to visit Jacob Thomas, friend from camp, and pick out some granite and tile from where he works, Cornerstone Imports. So hopefully I can take pictures/videos of what all we do this weekend and post them soon!!
